Walk a Doveton street before you decide
People will tell you to look further east, usually people describing a Doveton they haven’t set foot in for years. What is here now is post-war brick and weatherboard on small blocks, with new townhouses going up in the gaps between them.
Doveton was built for people starting out, and it still is
The suburb went up after the war for families working the factories at Dandenong, which is why the blocks are modest, the streets are wide, and none of it was built to be looked at. It has been doing the same job ever since. Somebody’s first house, then somebody else’s.
That is also why so much of what we sell here is a new townhouse on an old block. Three bedrooms, a courtyard, and a number a first-home family can actually reach. We’d rather put you in one of those than watch you stretch for something further out and spend the next few years catching up.

Built in the gaps, often in fours. Three bedrooms, a courtyard, a single garage. Being brand new is also what puts the first-home help in play.
The Dandenong side
Doveton sits right up against Dandenong, so the market, the shops and the station are a short run away. For a household with one car between them, that counts for more than a photo of a kitchen.

It is a real one. The blocks are smaller and the houses are older, and that is exactly why people can get in here. Go by what you see on the day rather than a reputation somebody handed you.
