Written down, so you can read it twice
The things we explain at the kitchen table
We say the same things every week, to different families, in three languages. It seemed sensible to write them down.

Start wherever you are
Each one stands on its own. Pick the one that matches the week you’re having.
None of these will make you an expert. They’re here for one reason: the first time you hear the words duty, valuation or settlement, it shouldn’t be in a room where somebody is waiting on your signature.
You’ll notice there are no figures in them. Grants move, thresholds move, rates move, and a page that prints them goes stale inside a year. So we explain how each thing works, and then we sit down and check the current numbers with you, in the week you’re buying.

Nobody should sign a page they cannot read.
The rest of it, out loud
Reading gets you the shape of it. Your own situation is easier said than written, so call either of us and we’ll go through it in Hazargi, English or Urdu.
